In India for example, there are very few boys colleges and too many girls colleges. So boys are being discriminated and they are not getting enough opportunities for higher studies.

  1. that example is not valid

  2. Interesting how some women can defend discrimination based on the past and not their own personal experiences.

  3. They all used to be boy colleges.  The ones that are co-ed were forced to be that way.  And women colleges began when women weren't admitted, some were created by the male colleges just to keep the segregation going.

  4. Most colleges were established to be men only.

  5. yes but no objection.

  6. nice try.  now go read Katherine Mayo's Mother India and report back to me.

  7. It's unfair

To prove discrimination we'd need numbers of boys and girls in the other colleges (girls-only colleges are often created as a way to even out existing gender bias; alternatively some places in India are very strict about male female interaction, and sometime this is the only way girls (or some girls) can go to college at all, so they might be considered a necessity in India).

However, it is unfair that they cannot offer courses to boys because of this. I wouldn't call it discrimination, as they make it clear that this is due to lack of funding rather than a gender bias, but yes it's unfair and something they should try to remedy as soon as possible.

  8. I wouldn't want to go to a college with only guys there. I want the ladies around!

  9. Sure, but what do expect from a seemingly pro-feminist country? Equality, my a$$

  10. Please. There were ALL male colleges for many, many years before women's schools were even thought of!

  11. Are you aware that in India, many girls are being killed before they are even born?

  12. Feminism is concerned with the equality of women, as it applies to bettering women... not real equality... you know--sexism towards men or the common 90's feminist slogan of Girl Power.

  13. yeah i think it's discriminatory
