Question:

Is it unhealthy to eat Spaghetti everyday?

I eat 100% whole wheat Spaghetti everyday for lunch. I have it with Prego sauce, its just tomato sauce, no meatballs in it. I eat half of the box portion which is about a bit more than a normal bowl serving. I lift every other day and run on the days I don't lift so I workout a lot. I'm gonna be playing rugby in a week so im only going to lift maybe twice a week but running almost 5 or 6 days a week. I eat a lot of whole grain/wheat products like Special K cereal and whole wheat bagels that are low in fat. Is that bad for me because im eating so many carbs? But their good carbs, complex carbs. And if it is, can I get some alternative foods to eat that are high protein low in fat. Thanks!

  1. idk i have eaten it for the last 6 days straight, i feel great so it couldnt be hurting, but of course you would need to eat something from the other food groups.

  2. cut back on the spaghetti, whether its whole grain or not, its not good to eat pasta every day.

  3. ppl are so stupid NOt you they ask the doctor for everything...

and no it isnt bad try to eat deff things i mean ur body needs deff things

try to eat somethin else dude

  4. I would suggest asking your GP or a nutritionist :)

  5. Spaghetti is low in fat, but all the carbs can turn to fat, but it seems like if you exercise a lot, the carbs get burned up as energy pretty quickly. Just make sure you balance out your diet in other ways. The tomatoes are good for you though, lots of anti-oxidants and cancer-fighting lycopene.

  6. As long as you get the other necessary nutrients and vitamins, it isn't a problem.  Also, since you run a lot, the carbs definitely do help as they build glycogen in your legs which is used in longer distance running.  I would suggest adding meatballs just because they taste great but that's just me.

  7. Just add some leafy greens, legumes and combine complex carbs to get a complete protien. ie: rice AND beans. Don't forget your anti-oxidants ie: blueberries

  8. Try Barilla Protein Plus pasta.  It has a great amount of protein and tastes just as good, if not better, than whole wheat pasta.  They sell it at most grocery stores in yellow boxes.  It seems like a simple step to adding protein to your diet and keeping the routine the same.

All the other answers are great too.  But if you don't have time to talk to your doctor or do a total diet reworking, try Barilla!

  9. It probably won't kill you, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  10. It is better to have variety in your diet. Pasta with sauce is an OK meal, but it would be better to eat it once or twice a week than every day, because you're not varying your nutrients. It won't kill you, but it's not the healthiest either. Also, Prego is a very processed sauce, you'd be better off with something more natural. If you want to eat pasta every day, it would be better to add different vegetables to it, make your own tomato sauce, eat it with pesto sometimes, etc. Other ideas:

    - Peanut butter sandwich on wholegrain bread (high in protein and good fats)

    - Caesar salad with chicken

    - Cheese sandwich on wholegrain bread (several slices cheese, bread, tomato, lettuce, onion, pickle, sprouts, etc.)

    - Green salad, a bowl of cottage cheese, and a handful of nuts

    - Pesto pasta

    - Vegetable/tofu stir-fry with rice (brown rice is better for you)

    - Beans, rice, and a quesadilla

    - A bowl of a healthy soup (homemade preferably, but a diet or health-food brand of canned soup will do) with toast

  11. sportsmen have alot of carbs because they use so much energy so i think with all the sport you do it is fine and especially beacuase its whole wheat.

  12. I hope not, b/c I love to eat Chef Boyardees spaghetti every day!

  13. I would eat more Jello because there's always room for it.

  14. It's better to cut the carbs and add in fish and chicken.

  15. not if you also consume other required nutrients, such as vegetables, fruits, vitamins, water.. one serving of spaghetti each day wont harm you, unless its the only thing you ever swallow.

  16. you should ask ur doctor

  17. Athletes need carbs, and there's nothing wrong with eating pasta everyday. Try making your own sauce, and throw in tons of vegetables. This will provide more complex nutrition, and cut down on the fat / sodium that comes with jarred sauces.
