A friend of mine told me they're finding it unhealthy to remove tonsils and many doctors have stopped doing it unless the case is severe?

  1. Don't do it if you don't need to, obviously but it isn't unhealthy if you need them out.

  2. Not really. My father got them removed and nothing bad has happened to him. Except when the scab came off that one time when it wasn't healed he coughed up blood. XP Yuck!

  3. Your tonsil's apparently have no use at all i've been told.

I have had them removed when i was 5 since i suffered really badly with tonsillitis.

Only get them removed if you need to, that's what they say but i am fine without them.

I suppose getting rid of them is just a waste of time and resources.

  4. Tonsils are part of your immune system, they help to filter out any germs that enter through the nose or mouth.  Common practice used to be to remove them at the first sign of trouble- 1-2 sore throats in a given year.  They are now finding that the reason tonsils swell is to fight the illness, not because they are ill.  Now they like to wait to make sure the tonsils are swelling chronically instead of removing them right away and taking away a major part of your immune system.

  5. its not unhealthy your tonsils dont do anything it just makes u stop snoring or coughing etc.
