I've been living in a garden apartment (a.k.a., basement apartment) for about a year. Now I'm seeking to move out, and I found another great apartment -- unfortunately, it's also a garden apartment. There are windows, but they're ground level. Only my living area is in the basement, and I'm free to spend my days on the first floor, where the living room and kitchen is. But I'd like to know the health risks (radon? mold?) of living in a basement.

  1. the only real risks are the ones you just listed, radon and mold. radon can be tested for and mold can be found if you look for it, if it doesnt smell musty your probably ok on the mold.

  2. Just add life and good frequency/charge/ions to the basement air by diffusing therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Check out the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by environmental expert Dr Ed Close. Simply diffusing a therapeutic-grade essential oil regularly will likely result in an environment very hostel to mold.

Cost of diffuser and a couple bottles of Thieves oil: about $200.

  3. Fresh air and no Dampness are most important so SHIFT OUT!!
