Question:

Is it unlike Christ to join a support group for minorities or people of your same race?

I invited a friend of mine that is also a Christian to a meeting for a support group for stay at home mothers ( the group primarily has women of color (African Americans, Hispanics, Asians) but non- minorities are welcome as well)

My friend insulted me by saying that it discriminates against people and that is unlike Christ. It simply is called the the "Colorful Moms" which doesn't sound discriminatory. I joined the group to find some people I could relate to because in my suburban area, I am always the only person at all the playgroups and I would like the occasional times to have my children play with kids that look like them too!

  1. Your friend misunderstood.

Tell them what you're telling us and they might apologize.

I don't see anything discriminatory at all, this Colorful Moms group shows your child to all walks of life and it's very enriching for the child :D

So go you! Go and have fun!

  2. Through physics, if you put all colors together they make white (as in the    colors in lights).

I suggest maybe changing the title of the group to make her and others that are white feel welcome, like

    "White Colored Moms"

  3. White is a color as well.  Doesn't sound discriminating to me.  It sounds like it is meant to imply multi-colored.

  4. Don't ever worry about what other people think. God only cares about your heart and your love of what you believe.

  5. Hopefully your friend will understand that you had no discriminatory intentions when you joined this group.  People often misunderstand.  You know your heart so stand strong.
