Is it unusual for a 4 yr old?

This is a sensitive question and I am trying to be extra careful for the forum.

My son is 4 yrs old. Since his birth, I have observed that whenever he pees, his p***s becomes hard. Is it normal? Is it something that I should refer to the pediatrician? Now that he is at a age where he is noticing by himself, it is sometimes embarassing him. Please advice.

Yes this happens to my son. I noticed when he was a tiny baby and I soon learned that this meant he was going to pee and I made sure I got his nappy on real quick so that he didn't pee on me.

I actually found it quite of odd and quite naively asked my husband if his did the same thing when he went to the toilet. His response was something like "um no", he thought I was really weird. Don't worry you're son will grow out of it.

my son is one and the same thing happens to him. I let my doctor know about it and he told me its extremely normal for a boy child. Its a matter of time that they are going to start controlling it. dont worry about it....
