I am 5'4 and 115 pounds. I have a c plus bra size, they look huge, is that unusual for a ballet dancer? So if I were to go out to try for a company, would it hinder my chances?

  1. Yes, it may affect your chances a little bit. Just make sure they don't...well...bounce. They want to see how you dance not stare at your chest.

If you dance as well as I hope, breast size should be the last thing they care about :)

  2. It would definitely hurt your chances to get into a company. Sadly, a girl I knew was very large-chested (DD or so) and was an absolutely amazing dancer. She was thin and her body would have been perfect in every other way - but she didn't make it in.

I think it's kind of cruel because it's not like people can control it.

I think some companies prefer girls with non-traditional body types. See if you can go into any of those?

  3. Dancers usually have almost zero body fat, so, yeah it's pretty unusual.

  4. Sorry to have to tell you but yes, classical dancers have small b*****s.  Yo may find that you get work as a chorus dancer or in a musical (where you may even have to go en pointe etc and use your ballet training) but you will never be taken on by a classical ballet company.

  5. most dancers have smaller breast. when i danced professionally my c  to d sized b*****s prevented me from getting into a few companies. but if you are talented, have a good work ethic, and are motivated you will find a company that will take you.

  6. that's hot....usually ballet dancers are flat chested....ewww!  b***s are good!

  7. Body type is a huge (no pun intended) factor in gaining employment as a dancer; virtually equal in importance compared with talent. When it comes to ballet, the smaller your chest size is, the better. Anyone who tells you differently is either blind or inexperienced when it comes to the realities of being a big-chested dancer.

I'd also like to set people straight when it comes to the composition of large b*****s on the body of an otherwise slim dancer: they are NOT composed of body fat. They are large because genetics endowed them with more mammary gland tissue. The reason why you don't see large-busted ballet dancers is NOT because dancers are naturally born small-chested, or even born with zero body fat. Dancers, even very talented dancers, come in all shapes and sizes. But the professional world of ballet only selects the smaller-breasted ones. Period. The rest get pushed out to give up dance, or find another dance style that suits them.

    Or they get breast-reductions.

    End of story.

  8. well i guess u can say its unusual for ballet dancers to have large b*****s but i'm 5 feet' 98lbs and i have a c size bra and i'm a dancer. You cant really help who you are so i wouldn't worry about it. If you try out for a company and you're good then they should have no reason not top pick you =]
