Is it usual for a 13 year old boy to hit his driver 280 yards because i do

Strange that at all the golf courses I have ever been to the overall average drive is about 240....... Guess I don't go to the right courses any more.....Nor evidently do I eat the right stuff or drink the right stuff.  But evidently the Internet has brought about an avalanche of folks who can hit the ball a country mile.  =)

actualy it is  pretty normal im 13 and i hit around the 260 on average and my friend is 14 and he hits around 290 and 310 on a good one then again he has a sumo sasquatch2 driver.

the average amatuer tends to exaggerate their driving distance between 30 and 60 yards. myself, a 6'2 14 year old have drove a 290 green once, and i am normally even with the flag on a 250 yard hole, and thats after hundreds of swings a day. i wouldnt dare to say i hit it 290 though. rethink your yardage man.

I have hit my driver 360 before...but that was 1 perfect drive with a tailwind on a downhill sloping fairway from an elevated tee box...but I only consistently hit my driver about 275....everybody can hit the once in a blue moon bomb but it's about consistency and I find it hard to believe that at 13 you hit it that far consistently...but if it's not in the fairway most of the time...it doesn't matter anyway

Well no it is not usual, however not extrodinary.    You may just be a great driver.  If so, work on your short game because it has to be good.  Definitly stick with the sport becuase you're most likely very good!

Its possible, I have the same driver and loft, I can hit it by 250-260 yards.

Is that 280 into the woods or down the fairway consistently.  Also, how about the rest of your clubs?......

If you do really hit that far for a 13 year old then congrats dude, BUT the guys that I know that hit that long are MASSIVE!

That is a good distance even for a full-grown adult.  I don't think this is usual and I think you and your folks should explore your talent.  There are people on the PGA Tour that average drives of about that length.
