Is it usual to have to give your landlord your pps number when renting?

he says he needs it for the lease forms? I was never asked for it before when renting other places.

  1. As far as I know they need your PPS number to register you as their tennant with their local authority, I'd take it as a good sign, means they're above board.

  3. It might have some to do with the fact that you can  claim rent relief if you pay tax?  Check out revenue.ie

  4. If he is doing things correctly, paying tax on the rent he receives etc., then he will need it.

    However, many many landlords don't pay tax on their rent, as you have found out.
