Living in Houston, TX, I never truly appreciated a cup of tea. When I arrived in England last fall, I saw the light. Nowhere else had I experienced such drizzly, damp, bland weather; it chilled me to the bone and made me feel particularly alone. Tea is the elixir. In my first weeks here I drank it by the bucket, grumbling between sips, "Haven't these people heard of central heating?" and, "Will this rain ever stop?". Having arrived in October, I knew the weather would only get worse. I kept up with the tea.

A mug of tea thaws frozen fingers as I hold it in my hands, and rising steam warms the tip of my nose when I raise the tea to my lips. The first sip scorches its way down the back of my throat and settles in my stomach; a few more slurps and I feel my veins coursing with tea, bringing life to my clammy extremities and leaving me wonderfully content.
