Is it very difficult to book trains while on france?

I am going on a trip to France on august and i need someone to tell me if it is difficult to get train tickets while on the station, or if i need them pre-booked (specially the Paris-Nice Route)

  1. I lived in France and I always  bought my tickets at the station and never had any problems. You can buy your ticket at the counter or use a vending machine that operates in English too and accepts international credit cards. However, if you want to be on the safe side, you can buy your ticket in advance and not 5 minutes before the departure. The economy class tickets can get sold out sometimes, depending on your route and time of departure, and I ended up having to buy a more expensive first class ticket.
