Is it very difficult to get a job in Rome?

Question

Of course being there legally. I don't many anything fancy, but just to where you make enough to get by. What if you only speak broken Italian and your native language is English? How difficult would it be?

i would say that i would be rather difficult to get a job. Rome speaks italian. If you really wanted to work in rome then you might want to work as a tourist guide or something of that sort.

it will be harder for you than a native Italian. I think that you will have the best luck working at places where lots of tourists go - your american will come in handy with the tourists. Look for a job in the tourism area or in nightclubs / bars that are frequented by americans. If you have to communicate alot then look for jobs where you can use english - other than that there are lots of jobs where you just need to give physical work.

your italian must be top notch if you want a good job, you also need the right paperwork. try this link....http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp... ,otherwise you will have to take a course to learn the language.  otherwise the only other jobs you can get without perfect italian is aupairing, but you will spend most of your time looking after spoilt children and they rarely have respect for other people, or becoming a house girl, but i doubt you want to clean houses. the minimum pay for an aupair is €80 per week,not alot but you get by.

the only other advice that i have is that you must decide nicely before moving to rome, life is expensive here and the people tend to be strange with foreigners. goodluck with the ventures.

In this period it's har to find a job in all, Italy, not only Rome....Probably you can find in a fast food but I usually see italian people...You can try to write in hotels where probably it's necessary people tha speak good english
