  1. yes

  2. Just like there are expenses when a mom has a baby in the hospital, there are fees to have a family through adoption. There may be fees to an adoption agency, lawyer, state offices/social workers (for birth certificates, court fees, home inspections), travel costs, etc. In some cases, adoptive parents may pay hospital fees or other expenses for the birthmother. (I would not say this is the "norm" as reputable agencies and lawyers will look for alternate options like medicare.) Adopting through state organizations, like Division of Family Services or becoming involved in the foster system, will reduce costs.

While adoption costs can range anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000, the US Government offers a $10,000+ tax credit to adoptive families (that means you get $10,000 back on your income tax) once your adoption is final.

For more information about adoption, visit the American Fertility Association and click their adoption section.

P.S. We adopted 1 year ago.

  3. A lot of red tape is involved so you are looking at 20 thousand or more in some states and higher in others

  4. its cheaper to take birth control for a few months, then quit, and have one yourself...thats a sure way to get pregnant fast

Yes, I looked into adopting and its too many legal fees, costs, and stuff like that...

I am now 37 wks pregnant and I am glad i chose to have my own

  5. If you adopt through foster care, it's free in most states, and very low cost in others.  If you adopt an infant domestically, or any child internationally, it could cost anywhere up to $30,000, although I've heard some lower prices, too.  Unfortunately, if you adopt an infant domestically, not only are you paying exorbitant fees, but that money is lining the pockets of folks who are treating healthy, white infants like commodities, and who may have  coerced the natural mother of your child into giving up her flesh and blood.  And if you adopt internationally, you could be paying for a baby who was stolen from his/her family, or who was produced in a baby farm.  There are some pretty shady practices in both international, and domestic infant, adoption programs.  It's a business designed to procure children for paying customers, not a social service for providing homes for children who need them.

If you adopt through foster care, you have a much higher chance of adopting a child who actually NEEDS a new family (although there are states with corrupt foster/adoption programs as well), and you can be virtually certain that your child wasn't a product of a baby farm.

No adoption program is without flaws.  Do your research before going any further, and take into consideration the feelings of the adoptee, as well.  Some good books to read are "Twenty things adopted kids wish their adoptive parents knew", "Helping children cope with separation and loss", "Toddler adoption: the weaver's craft", and "The primal wound".  I wish you the best of luck!

  6. It's free through foster care.

We have adopted 3 children through foster care and they were placed with us at birth, 6 weeks, and 21 months. They are 1, 2, and 3 now,

Friday night we had a 3 week old placed with us.

  7. It depends on the situation, but generally yes it can be expensive. Try going though foster care. If you adopt a child after the have been your foster child I have heard it is  cheaper than private adoptions.

  8. thats a really touchy with us right now.

we just got bumped from a private adoption after dishing out a Very large some of money,

a private party adoption can, cost between 10 to 20 thousand dollars in expenses and mother fees.

going with an agency is pretty standard around $21000,for a healthy American born baby.

but most is tax deferred,as write off"s .

i would go to www.adoption.com  or  www.bethany.org to find a full list of prices and wants.
