It really depends on what area of Spain you visit.. In the North its usually much cooler .. Such as Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country , Cataluña , Aragon.. If you want the Beach to still be available to swim in i would go south.. Andalucia,  cities such as Cadiz, Malaga, Almeria.. Those are better in October and still warm enough to enjoy ..

October is a great time to visit Spain:  the summer crowds are gone and so is the extreme heat.

The southern part of Spain is still warm in October and the rest of the country is warm / mild.
