  1. It not weird at all.

In fact teacher and students come from all over NY.

For example, at my alta master school which I graduated at Environmental Studies, one of my teacher drives from Philadelphia.

  2. No, not weird at all, in fact very cool.

  3. this happens all the time, especially if you go to a citywide public school like Stuy, Bronx Science, or Bklyn Tech. kids come from all over the city to get a better education than they might otherwise back in their own neighborhoods.

i attended a private school, and we had kids coming in from all over NYC, as well as NJ and a few from CT...

  4. Hey, I went to Stuy too! (Class of '93) And yes, there were plenty of kids from Staten Island (and everywhere else) that went there. It's not weird at all if you're going to school in Manhattan because it offers something you can't get in Staten Island. I for one didn't want to go to my zoned high school in Flushing even though it was only 2 blocks from me, so I chose to take a bus and 3 trains to get to Stuy. You gotta do what you gotta do.

  5. I attended Stuyvesant High School, which is a citywide school in downtown Manhattan.  Plenty of my classmates commuted in from Staten Island.  I would imagine the same is true of all the other citywide schools like Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Townsend Harris, Hunter, etc.
