Is it weird for your manager to take you to dinner?

My manager and I happened to have our lunch breaks at the same time, and he invited me to dinner. He's a health nut, but we both got cheeseburgers. Which is irrelevant. I just like cheeseburgers. Anyhow, I didn't think anything of it until I mentioned it to my supervisor/friend, and she told me it was strange. Is it?

One thing that I do wonder about in retrospect: he spent most of the time discussing relationships. As in, his past relationships, some of the gossip at work, etc.

  1. maybe he just needed somebod to talk to and that was the topic of the day.  Unless he came on to u then i wouldnt think much of it,  what are the rules on inhouse dating anyway?

  2. perhaps he likes you and wanted to enjoy some time outside work to get to know you better... unless he invited you to bed, then just take it as that... UNLESS you want more out of it...

  3. It is not weird for your manager to invite you to dinner...UNLESS, its too frequent. Try to listen to what is your manager trying to say when he/she talks to you about his past relationships...your manager might just want to have a friendship with you....also, does your manager invites other people or just you. Do you offer to pay or he/she pays all the time?

If its making you uncomfortable just dont accept the invitations and see what is his/her reaction. You'll have a better clue depending on the reaction as if its just a friendship or he/she wants a loving relationship with you.

    Good luck
