  1. No not at all its just kinda different cus thats wat i do run cross c ountry but no track

  2. no its not weird at all. sometimes people just don't feel like doing both. is it  weird for a person to run track and not cross country? no its not, some people just don't like to run both. nothing weird about it.

  3. ...

I'd say it's unusual but not weird.  Many short and middle distance runners use cross country to minimally maintain fitness for track and optimally develop endurance.  Conversely, many distance runners use track as a means to minimally maintain fitness for cross country, and optimally develop speed.  Usually the distance coaches bug the distance runners who don't like track to run track, and bug them so much that they cave in!

One of my daughters - now a junior in high school - runs cross country, then trains through the winter and spring to run half and full marathons in the summer (this year she's also trying on a half-Ironman for size!).  She hates "going in circles" - which is what she considers track.  I try to tell her that it's through track, training for 800 to 3200 meters, that she has the best chance for developing faster half and full marathon times, but the thought of racing, let alone training, on a track repels her so much that she just can't do it.

If she does continue running in college, I think she'll just have to run track to develop her speed for the women's 6k in college cross country running.  Otherwise she has very little chance to be competitive, at all, in that sport.

If you do opt out of track, you may find it difficult on your own to continue the training necessary for a competitive cross country season.

So, it's unusual, but not weird.  If you do another sport in the spring, whatever it may be, you will reduce the coaches' pressure for you to run track.  Otherwise, you may have to contend with their constant "encouragement."

  4. No, but it helps to do both.  I am an avid CC runner, and I hate track.  The only way to get good at CC is to do track workouts.  Don't worry, I dont like track very much either.  I only do it to get better at Cross Country.

  5. no, you may have good endurance and decent speed, but not be the best sprinter like in track. i know many people who run cross country, but dont do track.

  6. no it's not some schools only have cross country.
