I have 4 cats and I can distingush each of their "voices" when they mew. All my friends and family call me a freak, but it's just so easy to tell them apart.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  1. You're not weird, my two kittens sound similar but i can always tell who's mewing at the door before i look.

  2. no it isnt. i have 2 cats and i know each of there voices.my boy cat pearl (i named him when i was 5) has more of a girlish voice and moma has a very sqakish like a crow.

  3. I have 6 cats, and can do th same thing. =)  You're not weird.

  4. I was able to tell my cats apart.

Just like people, they each have their own voice.

  5. it's normal. each and every cat has a different voice. I can tell my 4 older cats apart. Still having problems telling the 4 kittens apart right now, but give it time I am sure I will be able to.

  6. oh, no, no. I know my cats voice, too. theres a lot of cats in our neighborhood but when i come outside, i hear her meowing, then she'll come through the gate. :)

  7. It's not weird if you can identify which one of your cats is meowing. Rare, yes, but not weird.

I'm wondering if your friends and family are just having a bit of playful fun with you.

  8. not weird, but in tune with your pets.  i know each of my cats voices, and can still recall the meows of my two kitties who have passed away, one 10 years ago and the other just back in may.

  9. If we call tell our friends apart by their voices, why not our cats?  I can do it with mine and my roommates.  I know when its my cat meowing or one of my roommates.  You are certainly not weird.  It shows you have a connection to your pets!

  10. Yep.  I have four cats also, and they all have distinct voices.  Nothing freaky about it.  : )

  11. no lol it doesnt make you a freak. actually, thats a huge sign you really care for your cats and are with them a lot. i know my two kitties voices apart from each other. i think most good cat owners do. its like telling a dogs bark from another. its easy to tell who's who.

  12. I don't think you're weird one bit Moi :)  Any cat lover should be able to tell which cat is which in your home if you have more than one. All my cats sound totally different, two of them very rarely meow as they chirrup more than meow and they all have different pitches.

When I have a litter of kittens I can usually tell one kitten from another after a few weeks even though they all have tiny high pitched mews :)

By knowing the differences in your fur babies that shows you are a very good kitty mum :)

    All the best.
