Is it weird that i walk my pet rat on a leash

i walk her in the park. when people stare is it because im a freak or just cause they dont see stuff like that so often

I dont think thats weird! Most people who don't follow the crowd are just considered weird. That doesn't mean you actually are. Just by "normal" people's standards.

As long as no one almost steps on your rat, and he doesn't almost eat anything bad on the ground, I guess that's awesome!

yes, they don't belong on a leash, some times i let my hamster go out side with me and instead of putting her on a leash, i watch what she is doing.

no. ppl just think rats are nasty. which they arent. its just like putting a skunk on a leash. or a rabbit. its just weird to other ppl. i tried this at one point but my rat woulnt put the harness on for some reason. but thats cool you could! and when ppl look at you stare at them, stick your toung out[[with your mouth open]] and say bluaaaaahhhhh!!!!! and they will get really freaked out but its HILARIOUS!!! im an odd person my self but ive learned to except it and i love it! just dont give a c**p how ppl look it you.....

of course its weird but at least your doing it. some people are scared of emmbarrasment so that their rats begin to bite..  so keep doing that because it is good for your little friend. dont be scared of the people staring at you    .. hope that helped :)

no its not your treating your rat with lots of love and affection.i have to bunnys and a hamster and they love there walks and runs,there's no diffrence in walking a dog or a rat.

No, your not a freak, why walk a dog? Why walk a rabbit? It's a new idea! Good for you! People might like your idea, or they might find it strange that you walk your furry friend on a leash, soem people might even be scared of him.

I sorta do the same thing but without a leash. I let my hamster walk around in my backyard and he LOVES IT!!! He loves to burrow in the grass. It's so cute! Don't stop letting your pet rat live the sweet life! Who cares what goes on between you and your rat!?!?!

well its not that weird cuse why would they just make rat leashes if nobody well uses them i use them for my rat but i walk him at my house so hope helped

It's because people, for the most part, still haven't realized what great pets rats are! It's just the public's misinformation. I'm sure it was strange to walk dogs at first, too.

Although, I'd be careful walking him outside as there are lots of parasites like mites, fleas and lice that would be very eager to meet your rat. :x
