Is it weird to swim in the lap pool?

I want to know if it is weird if I swim in the lap pool at Lifetime Fitness even though I have never been on a swim team or had anyone to show me proper swim techniques. I really want to get into shape, and I have always loved swimming. Would people think that I'm just wasting lap space because they would see that I don't know the exact techniques and most of them might really need to be there. I went two times already and I feel like maybe I shouldn't be there. Thanks.

  1. well im on a swim team and i perfer to swim in the lap pool now. i would say that it isnt weird because its a great way to stay in shape.


  2. You should definitely do it! Laps are a great way to stay in shape and you will soon develop your technique, especially with practice, observation of others, or ask a friend for help. It doesn't matter what other people think, and since you wish to do this, i highly encourage you to continue with your efforts! =) best of luck

  3. Eh it doesnt matter, I love to swim, so when im old eough, I will do that at our public pool. Just try to go there when no ppl need it maybe

    or people who need to practice, let them go first

  4. try joining a swim team. im on a swim team and its great exercise but its really fun too. i dont think its wierd that your swimming in a lap pool

  5. it's not weird at all you love swimming! Keep at it and maybe join a swim team!

  6. the lap pool is there for everyone to use, not just by those who are on a swim team. The fact that you are there using it proves you are working to stay fit and have every right to use the lap pool. Keep swimming in the lap pool and pretty soon the strangeness of using it will wear off.

    Many, many people swim laps their entire lives and never join a swim team, or swim competitively...they just do it because they enjoy it and it keeps them in shape.

  7. Well, I certainly don't think it's weird because I do exactly the same thing!  Swimming is really good exercise.  I started swimming laps 3-4 times a week at the beginning of the summer and I've lost about 10 pounds.  So i say go for it.
