I feel that having a good conversation with my perennials is very necessary for their survival. My Acer palmatum disectum ornatum 'sangu kaku' was nearly dead until I began sharing my stories with the poor maple...

  1. Great idea... just be careful if they begin talking back to you!

  2. I don't  think its weird. My mom talk and sing to her plant and they are growing beautifully.

  3. great way to make them feel loved, imo =)

    not weird at all

  4. I talk to my plants, usually to curse them.  "Grow ya' freakin' #@^!&!  Grow!"  Perhaps this explains their low self esteem.

  5. actually, they did this on myth busters. If talking to your plants is good for the growth of your plant.

But i dont remember the results. But maybe you should look into it. And i dont think its weird

  6. I believe that talking to your plants is beneficial to them and to yourself. It doesn't take a long conversation, just a 'hello' as you give it a drink, or a 'good morning' as you open the curtains. As you talk to them, you are exhaling CO2 (carbon dioxide), providing them with an extra shot of something which is vital to their growth and existence, and they return the favor with some fresh oxygen for you. If you regularly talk to your plants, you are also far more prone to notice changes to them, and know whether they need food, or water, or if they are bothered by bugs. Unless you are aware of the condition of the plant, you won't be in a position to take steps to help it and to keep it healthy.

I suppose that my opinion doesn't constitute a fact as far as scientific data goes, but now you can say that you found the information on the internet.

'Talking to your plants DOES in fact help them to grow faster and stay healthier'

    P. S. I sing to mine too.

  7. Only if you think they start talking back.

  8. I would only worry if they answered you.

    :-)

    Bug Doc

  9. I think the Myth-busters tests showed a moderately better result from talking to them, but I don't think it mattered whether you talked nicely or angrily; I think it has to do with the CO2 that you exhale when you talk.
