Is it weird to write a letter to the parents of my good friend who recently passed away?

One of my best friends passed away last week, I have never met his parents in person though i have talked to them on the phone many times through a rough patch in this friends life earlier this year. Would it be inappropriate for me to write them a letter sending my condolences and telling them about how much I cared about this person?

  1. I think that's a good idea..I think they will be very happy knowing that their child has a really good friend like you..who'll always remember their child in your heart..& care so much about their child..maybe your letter will help them through this hard situation..maybe not much, but still has a meaning..it's deep.. ;)

I'm so sorry for your loss..

  2. YES IT WOULD MAKE THEM FEEL REALLY GOOD THAT THEY NO HE  OR SHE HAD AT LEAST ONE GOOD FRIEND THAT  WILL ALLWAYS REMEMBER HIM OR HER,,PEACE

  3. no... it's ok you are just trying to be nice..., so do send the letter.

  4. It's not weird and I think they would really appreciate it.

And I'm sorry for your loss.

  5. No it would definitely be a good idea to do this as i'm sure your friend would want you to be there for his/her parents, and as you were there through a rough patch already they should know you only wanted the best for your friend

  6. no i think its the right thing to do. when my best friend passed away, i wrote the family a letter and now i talk to her parents more than i ever would have imagined.

  7. no it wouldn't be inappropriate at all. go ahead and send the letter. it might even make them feel a tiny itty bit better that he had such a gr8 friend as urself.

  8. I definietly think you should write and let them know how much you cared for that person. Then keep in touch so you can share your memories of that person. I am really sorry for your loss.

  9. no, i don't think its weird at all.  I think they would very much enjoy the fact that you had so many great times with their son and everything.

Just don't make it too out there or sappy, i guess.  I mean you wouldn't want to make their situation and harder or more sad than it already is.
