Is it wierd to have pictures taken if you're not even engaged yet??

I've been with my boyfriend for 3 1/2 years now, and I'd like to have some well done pictures of us together.....not the usually "say cheese" picture hanging out with friends. We may be getting engaged in the next couple months, and I would also use those pictures as our "engagement pictures". I'm just afraid people are going to think it's strange we're getting them done when we're not even engaged yet. What do you think?

do what you want to do 3 1/2 years together that's great, if their appropriate and you would use them for a pending engagement just do it don't be so worried about what others think, BE HAPPY

My boyfriend and I have been trying to get our pictures taken professionally for a while now and we've been dating for 2 1/2 years (no plans of an engagement any time soon) because the only pics we have together feature me in a hoodie or a t-shirt and him with a beer, LOL. We're more than likely going to be getting his SIL to do them since she's really into photography. I see nothing wrong with a couple getting their pictures taken! Just because you're not engaged or married doesn't mean you can't have some nice pictures of yourselves! Go for it!

Having a set of photos taken as a couple is fine as long as you're not passing them off as engagement or bridal portraits.  Wait until you are officially engaged before taking engagement photos.

it isn't weird to get pictures taken...but don't call them engagement pictures unless you are actually engaged..plus wouldn't you want your engagement ring in the engagement picture?

My nieces are always running down to a cheap photo place to have pictures taken with their friends, their prom dates, etc... have some nice pictures taken of the two of you just because..  You've been together over 3 years so he's an important part of your life NOW no matter what happens in the future so you should want to memorialize this part of your life.

If you want to get pictures taken with your boyfriend, go for it. The only thing that I would think was weird would be if you are calling them "Engagement Pictures" when you are not engaged. I have known a few bf/gf couples that have gotten pics taken, just because they want to, so I don't think its weird.

You have been together so long that it won't matter and if you're thinking about getting engaged then why not? It would be a great excuse anyways lol. I would do the same thing if I were you and besides the pictures are you for not for other people.
