  1. As an experienced real estate investor, I am surprised that you didn't not see the huge plunge in this market coming since 2004 (when the US FED began raising rates and continued this trend 17 times from 2004-2006).

And after the entire word has been flooded with information about the real estate market, you still asking whether you should be in real estate?

Plan on holding for 10-15 years. Real estate tends to trend in 13 year cycles, according to UCLA Professor I watched on PBS in 2006.

It sounds as if you need some serious help. I could not begin to asses the complexities of your situation here.

I would talk to a professional in your area for long term planning.

  2. "Put all your eggs in one basket, then watch that basket..."

The only times I hear that is when a broker is trying to sell me something and he wants me to give him as much as he can take. The more money that broker can get me to invest in his one basket, the more money he makes. It works to his advantage, but not mine.

This is why it is always good to diversify. See yourself as in business buying and selling investments. You are here to make a profit thru this business. That business is the one basket you should be watching, and not the asset.

Now that your real estate portfolio is set, just leave them at that. Weed out the ones that are bleeding money from time to time. Look for other investments that you can put your money to work into. If you do not have time to learn them, then find an expert who can help you.

    Hope this helps.
