Question:

Is it wise to get pregnant with wrist tendonitis?

I have had wrist tendinitis in both my right and left wrists for 7 months now. I am getting treatment through Occupational Therapy from past 4 months. My left wrist cured fully. But my right wrist still hurts a little bit.

Will this condition worsen if I get pregnant now? I have heard that pregnancy can cause wrist pains and I would like to know if somebody went through the pregnancy process with wrist pains before hand.

My orthopedic said he would want to perform surgery if the condition doesn't get cured within 1 month from now and it would take two months after that to recover and fully feel strength in my wrist.

In this situation, can I become pregnant or should I wait until the surgery and everything is cured?

  1. (((((( WAIT ))))))

You would be using it constantly after the baby is born. Infact you will move your wrist in ways you never have before. So, many times i have held my sons and did dishes answered the phone and wiped a tush all with in a few minutes.

  2. if you want wait but wrist pain in pregnancy is assoiciated with swelling towards the end sooo i dont think it would be that big a deal cause most the swelling is in the feet but if your worried about the pain and taking meds then maybe you should wait

  3. It's probably not the wisest decision to become pregnant when one is facing a surgery that may hamper a pregnancy or one's ability to care for a newborn.

Yes, you "can" become pregnant; but, I suggest you consult your orthopedic surgeon and primary care physician to determine if planning a pregnancy before, or immediately after,  surgery is recommended.

  4. wait because if you don't, you can't for 9 months and then you will have a newborn to take care of with limited motion in your wrists while you heal.

for the baby's sake and yours, wait.
