I am going to spend a few days in italy and would like to visit rome and florence. I'm flying from paris to rome and my return ticket to LAX is from rome. I dont want to spend one week in rome and would like to see florence as well. I'm just thinking of booking my hotel in rome for the whole week instead of booking another one in florence, since it's kind of hard to carry the suitcases between the two cities. Which one do you think is easier, booking hotels in two cities or geting a hotel in rome and taking 2 or 3 trips to florence every day and coming back at nights? Remember, my return ticket is from rome and I have to eventually come back from florence to rome in order to catch the flight.

  1. throw yourself in a canal and don't worry about it.

  2. I went to italy last year on a tour with my school. We went from Rome to florence via bus and it took about 3-4hrs. Rome is very large so u need about 5 days to see everything in detail colloseum, vatican, patheon trevi ETc, where as florence is a beutiful city with great art history. i recommend u stay in rome for 2 nights, go to florence for another 2 nights then come back to rome and complete ur stay in italy

  3. 2 to 3 trips to florence every day? Wouldn't one trip per day be better?

  4. Train service is great in Italy ( if they do not strike ) and will connect you from every main city.  Rome to Florence will take you 2 and half hour. Living in Florence for 7 years I suggest booking a hotel because then you will find the best deals without going around and not finding an hotel. I do not suggest going back and forward because it is to expensive and hot in the trains. Travel light since it is hot there.  You can leave probably your suitcase at the train station in Rome and take a small suitcase to Florence.
