He is very into Languages, Geography, Cultures, and Countries and i was looking into Spanish because he is taking it in school too. If i do get it should i get level 1 or 2 or both? He knows a lot and when he starts 7th grade i dont know how much of the beginner stuff he will know?

  1. It's worth it if he will have other exposure to the language.  If he is taking a Spanish class in school, then it can be a great help.  As for the level, it's hard to tell.  You have said that he 'knows a lot' but then you said that you 'don't know how much of the beginner stuff he will know.'

This is a bit confusing.  If he's never had a Spanish class, start him at the beginning.

  2. Please don't waste your money on a worthless program.

If he's taking it in school, let him continue there.  You can buy him a dictionary and a grammar book for less that would be better suited than R.S.

  3. i think its a great idea. im just like him, i love learning about that stuff. im doing a foreign exchange too. you should look into that for him in highschool. i know hes only in 7th grade but its never too early to start. rosetta stone is pretty expensive though. you might want to try something a little cheaper. or if you do get rosetta stone, i would suggest a different language since he's learning it at school already.

  4. Absolutely! In the world we live in today it's a huge advantage to know a second language. I've used this program and I highly suggest it.

  5. he sounds very much like me, i am 15 and can absorb languages very quickly, so can most people his age. i took it in school, and as far as i know, the school system might leave out important language information (i.e. conjugating verbs, present, past, and future tense) that professional software might have. however i cannot personally speak for rosetta stone, since i have never used it. but i would suggest getting him the best help possible, especially if he like it, then it would be worth it.

  6. OMG your son is just like my best friend! Deff get level one my friend has it and he LOVES languages there are some stuff your son will know and others he will not if you go to level two he might be a bit behind or confused! best wishes!
