  1. No

  2. It depends on what the site is for and what you are currently doing to get people to visit your site.

You could add adsense to it to make money or you could add affilaite products to it or both.

Then you just need to drive lots of traffic to it.

  3. I wouldn't give up yet. I have a site that has been up over 2 years and didn't get people to start participating until earlier this year.

I found that controversey works to get people fired up and talking about issues. Also try to tie in current hot events such as the race for the white house, Iraq, gas and oil prices, recession, etc.. with the theme of your site.

Do a couple of articles and submit them to the popular article data bases, and be sure to put your site info in the author resource box. For instance, there has been quite a few racial slurs or comments made by notable people during this presidential race. I did an article concerning the behavior of African Americans, and it sent a flurry of readers of many cultural groups rushing to my site to have their say... positive and negative.

Whether comments or feedback is positive or negative, at least you know what is on people's minds and how they feel about things. You can use that to tie into information affiliate, ir hard products you may wish to sell.

As an example, teen pregnancy, same gender marriages, and divorces are current hot issues that have quite a few affiliate information products that you can tie in and sell to those of varying opinions on those topics.

Check out google trend to see what the top issues are that have people fired up, and try to tie a couple of them in with the theme of your site.

Keep trying different things until you hit on something that works, then tweak and fine tune it to get maximum response and feedback.
