My daughter was born last week she's half Irish & Moroccan (from her father) we both have American citizenship..her father has Moroccan citizenship aswell, and I was wondering If I should go about getting my daughter Moroccan citizenship & how I would go about doing this? Is it expensive? She probably won't need or want it, but you never know..

  1. I agree with the above.. the more the better..

I myself am Saudi-american citizen... it does help things..

  2. Was she born in the U.S. or Morocco?  Just want to be sure you know that if she was born in Morocco, you need to register the birth at the American embassy to protect her American citizenship.  As to moroccan citizenship for her, I think you would ned to contact the nearest embassy or consulate of morocco.

  3. Yes I am sure that as her father is Moroccan, she can take on his nationality but as the other posting says it has to be done through the Moroccan Embassy. It will be better for her to have dual nationality as you have yourself discovered the benefit of having dual.

  4. You have more important things to worry about like marrying the father of this child and raising her properly as a Muslim.  When you get your priorities set you will realize that dual citizenship is not of great importance at her age (1 week).

  5. more citizenships the person posses, the better and convenient for him/her

  6. Personally, I would advise you to get also the Moroccan citizenship for her. According to Article 6 of the Moroccan code of nationality, she is entitled to have the Moroccan nationality, since her father is Moroccan. Within one year after her birth, you have to go to the nearest Moroccan embassy or consulate or register the birth of your child via postal mail (http://www.moroccanconsulate.com/childre... In order to do this your husband has to be registered already with the diplomatic mission of Morocco in the USA.

  7. If you ask me, i would stick with her current citizenship , because the american one covers pretty much everything...if she was born in morocco i would definately tell you to have both.

    Congratulations..she's cute :)
