  1. How do you know its the flu if you havent even taken the baby to the doctor.  Its probably just a could.  I would def put a humidifier in the babies room and try to keep her as comfortable as possible!

  2. i wouldn't worry unless the fever is over 103 or the child can't breath or has a raspy sound in her chest if that happend you will probably have to put your little one on an inebulizer but if its just a stuffed up noise i wouldn't worry

  3. just keep nursing and squirt a little breastmilk into her nose (helps clear the stuffiness away) and she'll be fine.  your b*****s will sense her sickness and make antibodies to it to help her heal.

  4. you sound like you know what your doing

of course if the cough gets worse go to the dr but you sound as though your going along well for a first time mum keep up the good work hun

    Amanda N - get a life darling

    sometimes mothers  just Know

  5. if i was a first time mum and my baby had a cough i would be at the dr asap lol

i know i would be worried all the time and want to make sure if they are ok

its up to u it may make u feel better to go anyway

  6. Its probably best you go to your doctor just to make sure, or even your local health nurse if you have one. I sometimes use dimeatap for infants, it clears up my babys nose :)

  7. If she is well in herself, not high temp and is feeding ok / wetting nappies - there isnt much point going - as they dont tend to give antibiotics to people for colds / flu.

Try to keep your baby as cool as possible, and keep with the meds to keep temp at bay

Maybe burn some eycalyptus oil or use a baby vicks on a cloth and put on the radiator (when the radiator heats up it will let of the scent into the room)

Also you could take your baby with you in the bathroom and run the hot tap - steam unclogs the nose - just be careful of the water!

  8. I would bring her. They'll check her chest to make sure she's not congested, and will look in her ears for fluid as well. Don't just give meds - They recommend not giving any at all now before the age of 2. I would never give meds (besides tylenol for fever) without checking with her doctor first. Good luck and I hope it turns out to be just a little cold.

  9. Yes, babies can have antibiotics.  However, the flu is viral and antibiotics aren't needed.  I would take her to the doctor so they can make sure she doesn't get pneumonia as that can set in really fast for infants.  You can call in to see if they want to check her.  Make sure to keep her hydrated.  If she won't drink formula or breast milk, give her Pedialyte.  You can use saline drops and use the bulb syringe to clean her nose.  You should use a humidifier in her room to help her breathe.  The steam is the shower is good.

  10. i would try putting a humidifier in the room ..

  11. I would take them to the doctor. It might be nothing, but babies are much more sensitive then we are, so even little things can turn into bigger problems. Really watch that cough, though. It could develop into something more serious, which is why I'm a little worried. I think you should go to the doctor just to be on the safe side. It might be a little inconvenient, but it could potentially save your baby's life.

  12. when they are that young, they cannot do anything unless the baby has a fever.

try a humidifier, saline drops and suctioning out the nose, and propping the head up a bit with a pillow while sleeping.
