  1. depends where the problem actually is. most of the time, the starter comes with a solenoid.


  2. if you have a older model ford the solenoid is separate than the starter, most cars they are together, so I wouldn't separate it, its an electrical part that will and can go at anytime. I would just replace them both if they are connected, if not connected then replace the one that isn't working. I dont even think you can replace only one or the other when the solenoid is attached to the started, I believe u have to buy the whole thing, check out ur local parts place

  3. absolutely.  these are parts that should be bought new by all means.  they are mostly wiring and you can never tell by looking if one is good unless its new.

  4. Hey Brandon! Take your question and auto part to a car part store. They can check the starter/solenoid for you and tell you if you need a new part. The store people are helpful that way.
