  1. I wouldn't. I had a lengthy conversation with a rep at best buy about that. The great thing about the Blue ray is the special effects added like the high definition with game features added to movies like the disney's Cars movie you can play along with the movie while it is playing. That is neat but is it worth the extra money. I don't think so. It is penetrating the market right now so it is more expensive. Once it has been out for a couple of years it should be less expensive then I would try it. I am a senior in business school and we have been learning about market penetration...You should definitely wait if you can.

  2. Not yet.  Prices are still high and available movies are still scarce.  Wait a year, and they will be $100 and under, and NetFlix will have everything on BR.

Also, make sure you have an HDTV, otherwise it's pointless.

  3. The guy above me is wrong. You don't have to have a 1080P set to enjoy blu ray. Any HDTV will look amazing with blu ray. But if you have an HDTV, yes blu ray really does make a difference in both picture and audio quality. I recommend the 40GB PS3. It's one of the cheapest most advanced blu ray players out.

  4. first u need a 1080p plasma or lcd.and i can guarantee u that prices of blu-rays will go down.i mean when dvd players came out theyt were really xpensive but now the cheaper ones r $20. u probably dont want to wait that long, but u know they will come down.

  5. It's not worth it at the prices they are going for. I opted for a standard DVD that upconverts to  1080P ($90), and it looks pretty d**n good on my 42" LCD.  Of course it's not quite as nice as Blu Ray, but I won't buy one until they're down around $150. Yes, I may wait a long time, but I'm not going to pay $300 for a format that still has bugs.

  6. I usualy see between $350 to $450, i was thinking the same thing. I dont have it either, but it is so much better then dvd. I SUGGEST YOU WAIT. It is not worth $400, next year all HD and plasma tv will be cheap and so will blue ray. In 2 year prob less it will be as common as dvd and be around $200. Just wait.

  7. It's probably not, if you don't have a HD TV -- you get none of the extra detail, since a non-HD TV can't handle the extra information.  All you'd get is whatever extras they put on the Blu-Ray version that the regular DVD version didn't have, and that varies by movie.

If you have a HD TV, you do get the much more sharp and crisp picture.  It becomes more and more noticeable the bigger your TV gets; just like blowing up a photo, a lower resolution picture gets fuzzy as you zoom in/enlarge, but a high resolution picture stays crisp and clear.
