No way! I waited until high school before I'd let anyone ask me out. You need time to be a kid first and relationships can become so complicated and heartbreaking. You don't need that in the fifth grade! I think kids force themselves to grow up too fast or they think they're cooler if they have a boyfriend/girlfriend which is so B.S. It just makes them look stupid, no offense, just my personal opinion ;)

If I could go back years and change some things I have done...one would have been to enjoy my childhood and not worry so much about growing up and doing grown up things.  Be a kid, live your life, love your life, and don't worry about girlfriends at this point.

no - its too hard to have a serious relationship at that age that means something. build friendships instead and in time, you will be ready to have a girlfriend and a steady relationship. relationships in such young grades are fragile and never last long.

I have a lot of classmates back in my elementary days who pay too much attention with all this stuff. Instead of paying attention to their studies and appreciate the hardwork of their parents to send them to school they play around and to these kins of things. After 11 years, they just end up financially struggling with four kids and a messed up marriage

depends how old are you, if you are 3-1 years older, it's okay, but older than 3, wait till you 2 reach in your twenties, they won't know the difference whose younger or not

NO WAY! you are too young to do anything, you can't go on dates because you can't drive, and it's just kind of weird. if you want to, i guess it's ok, but will your parents even let you do that? i don't think it's worth it. you should just wait until you're older so that you can do more things. what can you do in fifth grade? hug after recess or something? plus, when you have a girlfriend you feel bad when you want to hang out with your friends, or she wants to hang out with her friends at recess and stuff, and the relationship won't last long for sure. Also, having a girlfriend just makes drama, and drama is NOT fun! plus, you should just have fun. girlfriends and boyfriends are WAY dramatic and NOT worth it, especially in elementary school! even jr. high or middle school!

A serious girlfriend to hold hands with and kiss?......most definatey not worth it.

If you are older than elemantry school and want to have a girlfriend in elementary school, that is not okay.  The age difference is too much at this point.

Many kids in fifth grade haven't even reached puberty yet.  They are not mature enough for romantic relationships. Friendship is fine, but nothing that involves kissing or more than that.
