I just bought an 08 Grand Prix. I've heard you getter better gas mileage with Mid-Grade but I've never used it. Would it be better for me to pay the regular gas price or should I pay the Mid-Grade price.... help!

  1. Use the gas octane that the manufacturer recommends. The higher octane isn't necessarily better

  2. Just buy the regular gas, all new cars or most of them anyway will run just as good on low octane fuel.

  3. The only difference in the 4.08 gas is the higher octane level. In a Grand Prix, stick to 3.88 it won't matter.

  4. hard to say really what you need to know is which one gets the better mileage and easy to check buy a tank  write down  miles buy another tank and do the same and subtract... the one you want is the one that gets you the best miles per buck you know.... you can set your speed o and run a tank of whatever you use and do the same with another brand or type not all gas is the same so you have to use more than one brand and type to really know which is better to run

  5. unless your car absolutely has to have it no its not worth it to use it, id use regular in it ,most cars will run good off regular gas, your owners manual will tell you this for sure, good luck.

  6. I run 3 tanks of regular to 1 tank of premium, I can really notice the extra power in the premium, and it cleans my injectors.

  7. Check your owner's manuel and use what's recommended. Unless your engine is configured to use the higher grades of gas, you're wasting your money.

I drive old stuff and put premium in my Belair during the summer months because it runs cooler.  It was designed to run on premium, but in the winter, I use regular without any problems.

  8. if you have never used it then dont bother...

I can not get over the cost of fuel/gas........

  9. Since the Grand Prix has a large engine then bill comes out pretty high even with the regular gas. Always keep one thing in mind though - If the price of mid-grade is 4.08 today, tomorrow that might just be the price of regular. And if you want just buy a box of OCTANE BOOSTERS from Costco and add them to your car every time you fill it up. it gives you better octane than the mid grade itself
