Is it worth it to start collecting...

baseball or football cards? i used to collect in the 90s when it was big, now it seems like the popularity isnt so big. so is it even worth it anymore? im 29 years old, just looking for a new hobby to do.

Do it for fun not for profit.  baseball cards wax and wane in popularity there will always be  collectors out there and always a market for cards.  Just have fun with it and in a few years you will be surprised to find that you have a nice collection worth quite a bit to some collectors.

For fun, go ahead, but if you think you're going to make any profit, you should try something else. Of course the 90s were the worst because of the oversaturation of the market with cards, but now it's worse, you spend 3 bucks on a pack and get 8 commons not worth a quarter total.  If you've got the money and want a little extra thing to do on the side, then give it a go, but if you think you're going to make money, forget it.

It might be better for you to collect older cards, like trying to put together an old early 70s Topps set. I was working on a mint 1971 topps which are impossible to find (because of the black boarders), I've got about 100 so far. Now that would be worth some money (not that I'm doing it for money).

not anymore, i used to collect. but i cant sell anything and breakeven doing it. its a big risk. and you will definetely lose money starting now

i collect for fun. i get the topps baseball complete set every year. its much better. 660 cards, every one of them including rookies. i have some really good rookies like hanley ramirez, dan uggla, joba chamberlain, tim lincecum, josh hamilton, derek jeter, and lots more. the complete set is $60 instead of $2 for 8 random cards that usually arent good. but just do it if youre doing it for fun cuz you wont profit much.
