Question:

Is it worth it to try and trade in my 2002 grand jeep cherokee?

So my wife wants me to trade in my car, 2002 grand jeep cherokee that was bought for about 26K in February of 2002, she wants me to get something with better gas mileage. But now I'm afraid that I won't get offered much at all for a trade-in since no one wants a SUV now. Does it make sense to trade it in, or would I get so little value in return it wouldn't be worth it?

  1. justify what you want for it by going to kbb.com and edmunds.com print out what fair trade value is. if you amend your question and put what type of Cherokee, miles etc...  then I can give you an appraisal

  2. Not worth it.

Jeep grand cherokee's are very nice trucks, and is totally a waste of money to trade them in espcially at this time.

Yes I know gas prices are hitting records, but it's too early to trade it in at this moment.

Keep it. I kept mine and I drive a lot too, but better be safe and comfy than a few extra MPG's.

  3. I traded one of those in 06 and I got 6300. you may as well just keep if its paid for, and you put all that money in to it, its yours.

  4. You'll get about $4,000 in trade on it.  Is it worth it?  Only you can decide that.

  5. Assuming the you want to get the new car, you could try selling the Jeep privately.  You should get more for it that way than trading it in.  The dealer has to figure in a profit.

It is a 6 years old.  Get what you can and be rid of it.  It does you no good to sit in the garage.
