So I'm a student at Illinois' best high school (Whitney m. young........if you don't believe me look it up), but I don't know what I want to be when I grow up...for a minute i considered music (because i want to do something art- related)....so I chose piano as an elective for next year...is it worth it ( i mean its not that popular and most of the time they dont perform in groups, and besides mostly no new artists use pianos these day)?? well i mean i cant do nothing about it now, but next year i can always chose the bass and at the same time chose and art elective

  1. Playing the piano will be a skill that you will be able to use throughout your entire life.  It is gives you a great start on learning music theory and nearly all forms of modern music have included piano parts in them.  It is not easy to master and that may be why it is not a popular class.  It takes daily practice to get better.  Piano playing will help you learn in playing any other instruments later on and if you want to compose music often that is a great instrument to do it on.

  2. I'm always impressed by people who have any musical talent.  So sure.  I took piano for about a year and a half in elementary school and I wish I'd stuck with it.
