Will be going to uni at the beginning of Oct, and won't be driving for the duration of the 3/4 year course. Is it worth learning?

  1. I did, and I took a car to uni. Those with cars can get used as taxi services sometimes, but I didn't mind.

A lot of student places are in not so hot areas so you need to watch out for increased insurance if you take a car there.

On the other side, there will no doubt be times in the course of your student career when you just need to go somewhere else to clear your head from all that learning (or not, depends on your attitude). Being able to just go somewhere on a weekend is really nice, especially not having to rely on buses or trains.

In short, I'd say, if you've got the means and the funds to learn now, do it. The more experience you have under your belt in the long run, the better. Enjoy uni!

  2. depends if your gonna be residing in the uni campus or not.

driving is a skill for life.. not just uni... worth having for sure... sooner the better imo
