Is it worth my time (or anyones) to look into being a travel agent?

Thought it is difficult to answer, as it depends on the budget. I mean for a new travel agent, it is  not easy to compete those are will experienced unless you are willing to give it a huge budget.

Why not trying to be an online travel Affiliates, that will just cost you little, and if you give the project time and ideas, it will certainly satisfy your needs. At least you will gain experience and will establish the relationship (network - which is very important) with the key providers of the service.

i enjoy traveling beyond anything else, and i admit i have looked into becoming a travel agent, but i must tell you, it does not look like the best way to go, at least for me. a down side is that yes, you do get to plan many vacations, but they are NOT for you =[[ and also, the pay is terrible. =[ so i would REALLY look into this before you say you wish to pursue it.

id say it isnt worth it... with all of the online travel sites (orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, hotels.com) it makes no sense to seek out and pay a travel agent
