Is it worth reporting this minor car accident to my insurance company?

I was involved in a minor car accident and there was damage done to my right side fender and headlight. It was at no fault of mine and there was no damage to the other car involved. What will happen when it's reported it to my insurance company or other drivers insurance co.? I don't know how it will affect me. Will my insurance go up if not at fault? I would appreciate as many answers.. thank you!

  1. did you call the cops?, if you have a police report that says that the other person was at fault, their insurance should be the ones paying for your damages

  2. I would just call your insurance company.  Ask them their opinion.  Some companies don't change your rates if the damage is under 1000.  Of course, if it's not your fault then it shouldn't affect things.  But last thing you want is the person who hit you to call their insurance company and imply it was your fault.  I've had this happen to me and fortunately my company set them straight (it helped I had a police report).  All in all, it can't hurt to talk to your insurance company.  And make sure your state isn't a no-fault state.
