Question:

Is it worth the money to switch from Sylvania Silverstar headlights to the "Ultra" version?

I own a 1998 Saturn SL1 and have had Sylvania Silverstar headlights in it since the winter time (roughly 9 months). They were a great improvement from the stock headlights, both on look and visibility. I much prefer the "white" of the Silverstars to the "yellow" of the OEM headlights. I have been seeing the Silverstar Ultra headlights recently though, and I am wondering if a switch is worth it. The Silverstars cost me $39.99, and the Ultras will cost me another $49.99, probably $100 because I want to replace my high-beams as well (which are currently still the OEM bulbs). The details on the back of the package say I will only be going up about 100k though, whereas the original switch from the OEM headlights took me up almost 1000k. Will I even notice a difference? And if not, what other quality, bright-white headlights can I purchase? The high price tag on the Silverstars compared to OEM headlights cause me to be a little cautious before I break out my wallet. Thanks for your help.

  1. ultras are awesome and should have been first choice they are better and don't look yellow at all more blueish

  2. No my son and i got both kinds and i can't see a big difference.

  3. Its seem you are watching your spending.  If the current bulbs you have on the car is working fine.  I would just leave it alone, and send me your $$!  I have the Silverstar on my Suzuki XL7 and like it very much over stock.

  4. I'd be careful too, I've heard plenty of stories of Sylvanias or even other aftermarket bulbs dying fast and between a long lasting yellow bulb and a super white one that costs more and dies in 2 months I'd take the ugly yellow.

If you find some bulbs that hold up or the sylvanias do good for you.

  5. just get HID 150 ebay
