I have a 2007 Corolla, 15000 miles. 5000 and 10000 I got oil change from Toyota and the they have writtern "Q" synthetic. I dont know whether it's a synthetic oil. For the 15000 oil change, I used 5W mobile fully synthetic oil. . I would like to know that is it worth changing to synthetic oil?. I am living in Texas with the tempeartures are above 100 degree everyday and is it good to use synthetic oil at this high summer.

  1. yes you,d be better off using it, it breaks down a lot less than regular oil does and it last a lot longer between changes also and holds up extremely good under high heat conditions and does prevent sludge from building up in most engines,it cant hurt it none to use it,all it will do is help extend the life of any vehicle you put it in,so really all you can do is gain from it,good luck.

  2. yes synthetic motor oil would be good for your car, but you need to keep useing it once you start or you will loss what synthetic dose for your car. but i would use amsoil. it is much better and there oil last up to 20,000 miles per change.

    mopar man

  3. synthetic is much better than conventional oil and won't hurt your engine at all, probably better for it in the hot heat and you will get a little better gas mileage with synthetic plus longer intervals between oil changes.

I would be better to use synthetic.  Some Toyota have been known to have engine sludge failure (prevented by full synthetic oil).

If you are very good at keeping 3K or 5K oil change schedule, then you probably can use regular oil.

Full synthetic oils are very good at 3 things

    (1) prevent sludge build up

    (2) prevent oil break down (becoming watery)

    (3) prevent oil freezing at cold weather.

    Good Luck...

  5. Ive owned many yotas (3 corollas, 78 pick up, celica, camry the list goes on) and Ive gotta say I have never ever used synthetic oil on any of them and I always got well over 200k out of all of them if I kept them that long and even at 200k all of them had oil clean as crisco up to 2k after the oil changes. on corollas all you have to do is change the oil it doesnt matter what oil it is really. only on super sensitive performance based motors like bmw and such really need synthetic. I wouldnt spend the money and going over 3k is fine between oil changes prob more like 4k is better in my opinion. good luck with the car!

  6. Yes, especially in a newer car. your motor will last longer and will be much easier to start in winter.

  7. synthetic oil is better it breaks down less than oil does... so it last longer... but that dont mean you should run it longer what some people is saying 3000 to 5000 miles always change the oil ... if they wrote q synthetic oil  you have it already im thinking
