  1. While some people think it's a fluke, I really don't think it is. (He's still maybe over achieving a little though.)

But he's a different starter than when he was a few years ago. Pitchers mature with the more experience they get and he's got one of the nastiest splitters I've seen. He's got a good arsenal, I think he throws five pitches so he's always keeping hitters guessing.

He's definitely not a 3.00ERA pitcher though, I would think next year (if it is a slight fluke) he'll hover between 3.50-3.75 which is still really good.

  2. I would definitely keep him. To go from a starter to a closer back to a starter and have already won 10 games, Dempster has proven that he can be a very effective starter. I think he will be decent next year, as long as he stays healthy. What the Cubs really need is bullpen work. Starters aren't so much the problem as the bullpen, especially the closer. With Wood out, and Marmol having problems, the Cubs really need to work out bullpen issues.

  3. no he's having an all star year and they are in a pennant race

  4. No i think they should keep him because hes  done great this year so far and if they trade him then all they have is zembrano and harden and harden is getting old so yea i would keep him

What they need is a new reliever now that wood is out

    GO CUBS

    WORLD SERIES CHAMPS 2008

  5. The way he's looked this year, I wouldn't want to get rid of him.  I guess we'll see if he can keep it up in the second half, but I don't see why he can't.

  6. Dempster coming up in the Cincinnati organization was there next stud pitcher.  He did have a couple good years with the Reds before getting injured.  Then he went into the closer role with the Cubs which didn't really allow him to use all of his 5 different pitches.  Ryan Dempster is this good of a pitcher and I don't think this year is a fluke.  I'd hold on to him for a while longer.

EDIT:  Tee, I'm just wondering how Harden is getting old at 26 years old?

  7. i doubt that since the cubs are in the middle of a penant race they are going to trade him
