Question:

Is it worth upgrading a Nokia N95 to an iPhone 3G?

Hi, I currently have a Nokia N95 and have had it since May 07. I am eligible to an upgrade next month and am strongly considering the iPhone 3G. The only thing is that if I take this upgrade I will then have to wait until 2010 for my next upgrade! This is because you have to enter a new 18 month contract and my current contract doesn't end until January 2009. I do not take pictures much at all and the iPhone really would be better suited to me. Also are there any new groundbreaking phones due to be released soon? Such as a new iPhone? I have heard rumours of an iPhone nano for christmas. I know about the Nokia N96. What are your opinions on this?

Thanks a lot!

  1. The only thing that is special about the iPhone is the immense amount of marketing that has gone into making people think it is something special and ground breaking.

It is no better than your N95. So what if plenty of other people have an N95, that is a sign that it is a good successful model.

  2. Well, if you do buy the iPhone, then you can always go back to using your N95 if you don't like it, if your iPhone breaks, or even if you just don't want to bring he iPhone with you..

  3. I've been a user of Apple hardware and software for years (since the mid-90s) and I think that Mac computers put Windoze to shame. However, I get annoyed by all the hype over the iPhone. I've had a Nokia which has a 3.2MP camera, 640x480 MPEG4 video, 3G, Bluetooth, built-in WiFi, and an SD card slot which currently has a 4GB card in it.

And yet people try to tell me that the iPhone 3G is better? Well, OK, it has a great operating system (Apple) and the touch screen interface is fab............ but no way is it any better than my Nokia N93i. Not a chance!

I was in a O2 store recently asking about my account, and they tried to interest me in an iPhone but couldn't understand it when I said I had a better device that talked very well to my two Apple Macs!

So........... don't follow the sheep. Get what suits your needs and stuff 'em! :-)

Is Apple becoming the new Microsoft? h**l, I really hope not!

  4. If your planning on getting the Iphone then go for the 16GB and pay that bit extra, I too have an N95 but I will get an upgrade in Oct and I too want the Iphone or I might get the new 8MP phone which is Sam sung I8510 which will come out in Sept/Oct not sure.

But go for the Iphone if you love th music side of things, good luck and enjoy your new Iphone 16GB

  5. My fiance has an array of phones. One of them being an iphone, and is actually giving it away to a nephew. He's had it for 2 weeks, but used it just the once. The problem with the iphone, is that its fantastic as a music device, but its absolutely c**p on the phone side. Something has to give with the iphone, and because all the money has gone on marketing and making it more invaluable than the ipod, the actual phone side lets the side down apparently.

  6. Not really, i mean the i phone is good but its not great.

5mp camera compared to 2mp of the iphone.

You got to think about what you want the phone for really,

and i can guarantee any phone you have someone will have it already
