I'm 21 now and will completely my 2nd and last year in college this summer. It was a community college. But for years i always wanted to travel or study abroad. Right now i'd love to study something different in America. But it costs money and i'm afraid my parents will think of it as wasting my time or something. I want this so bad. Do you think studying overseas (america) is a good experience for someone of my age and worthwhile and benefit too? Also, if you could show me any information about how studying abroad is worth it, then please do, because showing this to my parents may help them feel better about it.

  1. Well I am 21 too and I moved to UK last year. It is the 1st time for me to study abroad in a country that completely different than mine.

I highly recommended it. You will learn a lot .I am finally independent , I learned a lot about a new culture , new lifestyle and new friends.

Believe me you will believe in yourself more and you will do things, you never believed you can do before.

    Good luck .

  2. no you study where u live but after completing Go OVERSEAS to get a job, bacause in america there are very high salary jobs , Just earn there not study.

  3. Here's a site that might help you (and your parents!):

    http://www.universitylanguage.com

    Good luck!

  4. I believe studying overseas for a time can be a great advantage in today's increasingly global world.  Companies with international ties will want employees with international experience.

I was an exchange student in high school.  The experience I had in Japan is the reason I became an ESL teacher, and the experience of being a student overseas helped me to 1) get into my master's program and 2) get many part-time jobs teaching ESL and 3) finally get my full-time teaching job.

If you can find a way to do it, go for it.  Rotary International has programs for college students as well as high school students, so you can check them out as a resource...

  5. I would highly recommend it. While I never "studied" overseas, I did live in Taiwan for a number of years.

Travel broadens the mind. It will also look good on a resume. While vacations are fun, you will never truly experience another culture until you live it.

    Good luck!

  6. OMG yes!

You should DEFINITELY look into it.  However, the thought of getting off cheaper than studying in the States is probably a little off (at least that's how I read your question).  You should check out programs available.  Maybe even check into working abroad.

Stretching your horizons can never be seen as a bad thing.
