Is it wrong for a 16 year old girl to date a guy that is 21?

iv got a friend who is 16 that is dating a guy that is 21 i personally think theres nothing wrong with it if they are in love, but people have different opinons i would like to your opinions? thanks

FACT: 21 year old guys are very horny and all they can think of is s*x.

Love is the last thing on a 21 year old guy's mind. He's thinking with his "you know what".

A 16 year old girl is not old enough to make that decision if she wants to have casual s*x. Nor does a 16 year old know what she's getting into having casual s*x.

Boys don't care. They just want s*x. THey have no sense either.

All she is doing is allowing this guy to use her sexually. Because neither one is capable of making adult decisions about love or s*x. Don't be fooled by this "were in love" nonsense. It's just an excuse.

Ok, first of all it is illegal to date like that until you turn 18, when you turn 18 it becoms legal. And when you say they're in love, im sorry, but it isn't true. There are so many things wrong with a 21 year old wanting to hang out with a 16 year old. And trust me, because I have been in the same exact situation. Except I wasn't in love. But the point is the guy did nothing except minuplate me. Which is what is going to happen to your friend if you don't get her out of this situation right away. It's normal for girls her age to have crushes on older boys, and joke about it with friends and all but that's it. Nothing beyond. She should be dating 16 and 17 year olds.

Well, it's illegal, first of all.

And a guy that age is probably not interested in falling in love with a sixteen-year-old girl.  But that's just a generalization.  I guess he could have good intentions.

Of course it is wrong. And are you really that dense? Nobody is ever in love at 16. She's in extreme like if anything. And the guy, he's thinking he's the luckiest guy in the world because he's got some young thing to mess around with. That's all she is to him, just a piece of meat. If you were any friend at all, you'd talk to your friend and try to convince her that she's getting played. No guy at 21 would date a 16 year old for any reason other than potentially getting a young piece of meat.

I don't think so either. That's only a five year age difference - not that much older and like you said if they're in love who cares! Some people do tend to get judgmental at about age differences because they think the older person would try to take advantage of the younger person, and the younger person would be naive and do something stupid. It depends on what kind of relationship they have but if i was in that situation i wouldn't really give a c**p about what anyone else thought because at the end of the day it's their relationship.

There are two sides to every story. The argument against this is maturity. There are great maturity changes that occur between 16 and 21. Many teens are not sexually active at 16 but by 21 the majority have already participated in sexual intercourse. As well 16 year olds are merely in high school but 21 year olds are close to finishing college; thus there are great intellect differences as well.

All I can say is that things very depending on who is in the situation. For example practicing christians often overlook age because the sexual maturity point is moot.

well yea, there is something seriously wrong there. there is a huge gap in mental capacity and maturity there. not to mention, there is something called statutory rape and that guy can be arrested for having s*x with that girl because she is a legal minor. in all honesty, i know that love has no boundaries but a 21 year old guy should have no romantic interests in a 16 year old girl

Think of it this way.. she's in high school. He's either working or in college. She's excited about her parents letting her drive one of their cars once in a while. He's excited about the new car he just *bought* for himself with his own money. She enjoys hanging out with a few friends for an hour at the mall/park/having a sleepover/whatever. He goes out with the guys to bars to get drunk. Her major concerns are studying for tests, how to wear her hair, and which girls don't like her at school. His major concerns are health insurance, who he's voting for in the next election, paying his bills, etc..

They live in COMPLETELY different worlds.

Romanticized visions of love aside, think about the facts. Why do you think he'd leave *his* world to pick up a girl (illegally, at that) who's not fully mature and has FAR less real world experience (aka is more naive)?

Do you think that guys don't know that younger women are completely OK with dating older men? That it makes them feel mature? That having someone older (but still "young") attracted to them is extremely flattering? That the fact that they're doing something some people consider wrong doesn't just make it more exciting? OF COURSE we know. It's just that only some of us are evil enough to actually go and take advantage of it.

A 16 year old girl's concept of love and a 26 year old woman's concept of love are dramatically different. He's *exploiting* that difference in mindset.

Here in Canada it would be perfectly legal and I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it is legal in whatever state they reside.

The age of sexual consent is 16. BTW, until this year the age of sexual consent was 14.
