  1. Do they say why they don't want another one? Most kids would be happy! Find out why they don't want one and take that into consideration. It may be your house and you may make the decisions, but they deserve to be happy as well. Just a thought...

  2. If you get that second dog you better be the one that takes care of it.

  3. Well ultimately you are the parent, the one paying for the dog, and (presumably) the one taking care of it so you can do whatever you want.

  4. Who cares what the kids want.. You pay the vet, you buy the food, you train and care for the dog, pay the mortgage and everything else. Get a dog if you want one.

  5. In my opinion, yes. Everyone in the family should agree to another dog. However, if you'd like a second dog that YOU will fully be responsible for, then discuss that with your kids. Let them know they will NOT have to do a single thing for the second dog, and you will be the sole caretaker of the new dog. It may be alright then, but I still feel that everyone in the family must agree to adding a new pet to the family.

  6. Whoa thats crazy! Me and my sister would love to get another dog. Why dont they want another? How old are they? Are they the ones who care for the dog? Dude, your awesome! I wish my mom was that cool with animals. My moms more like, "Get the dog out! She is shedding everywhere!"

  7. Why would you get a 2nd if your kids don't want it? If it is beacuse you want it, then, well you are the parent, and you will be responsible for it. If you are going to make them walk/feed and clean up after it even though they don't want it, then no I wouldn't get another.

  8. I can't believe you have kids who don't want another dog.  There seems to be hundreds of kids on here who would love to be your kid.  They can't get their parents to get them one dog.

If you get a second dog, just remember that the kids will not want any responsibility for the dog.  It is going to be your dog so it will all be up to you.  If you expect their help, then forget about it

  9. It's definately not wrong. If you want a dog then get one. If your kids don't want another then this dog can be YOUR dog. I don't see it as a problem, but you do whatever works for you. Good luck!

  10. I wouldn't advise it. Your kids should come first, rather than your own preferences.

  11. Well it depends if your would like a another one.

Maybe you should ask your kids if you want another dog. Thats what I would do if i had kids.

  12. WTF, kid?  Your mom wants another dog with a litter on the way?

  13. If it's your dog and you are taking care of it and being a responsable owner then go ahead.  You are the parent and it is your home and you can do whatever you want as long as you take responability for your actions and do not expect your kids to help.

  14. If you want the dog get the dog BUT because not everyone is in agreement on this don't expect or ASK your children to pitch in with the dog. Yes you're the parent and you can make the choice to get a dog or not, but since dogs are a lifetime commitment and apart of the family you should want everyone to be ok with this.

  15. Would be helpful if you include some more info...like: why they don't want a second dog. Most kids love dogs...the more the merrier.

Ultimately, it's your decision as the adult. I wouldn't let my children make such decisions for me, just as I wouldn't get my child a dog if they wanted one, but I didn't.

  16. is it wrong if you were to build a fence in the middle of your neighbours backyard knowing that they would kill you ?

HAHA yes thats not a very good idea..

  17. No. Children are often not the ones who take care of dogs. Although I have never heard of a child that doe's not want a dog. As long as YOU are willing to devote your time to caring for the dog and providing it with a companion and a buddy to help get his energy out then that is totally ok. Just do not buy a dog knowing you can't play with it, and hoping your kids will change their mind.

  18. You're the adult if you want another dog then get another dog, just don't put all the responsibility on your kids.

  19. I'll tell you this just like I tell the kids that are on here wanting another dog.  Mom and Dad are the bosses and what they say goes.  That being said, don't ever ask them to take care of it or watch it or clean up after it or feed it cause it's YOUR responsibility.  It's your house but I really think that everyone in a household should agree on what and how many pets are in a house.

  20. well you are the one paying for the dog and you are the parent, it is ultamatly your decision and kids dont normally look after animals so if you plan to take on full responsability for the animal then you should beable to buy it without feeling guilty.

  21. they will get upset and might try to get the dog to run away =o

  22. It depends on your reasoning for getting a second dog.  Make sure you are emotionally satisfied before adding any pets. Otherwise you risk the temptation of replacing a need with a want. Dogs rule, but time and love know no boundries, and pets aren't the smartest of creatures.

  23. Ultimately it will be the one to decide if an additional dog will be a good choice not us.  I am on the side of the members that give you a green light.  Just want to add a few questions of my own to you.  What are your motives for getting another dog?  Have your children given any concrete answer as to why they wouldn't want  a friend for Fido?  Can you be a loving, caring, and responsible "Mom" to all your kids?

    4 legged ones included!
