Question:

Is it wrong if...?

so i'm at college in my first year and after coming back from winter break i've been acting differently.

is it okay if:

-i like to keep to myself

-i prefer to stay in my room and watch tv, or use my laptop

-don't talk much to other people (i'm a quiet person)

-don't hang around with the girls who i used to hang out with?

i want to meet new people, but at the same time, i guess i'm kinda unmotivated to.

i'm used to being by myself so i don't want to waste my time and energy with 'friendships" that are one-sided. the people on my floor who i hung out with all first semester disappoint me and break promises...i don't like that

but what can i do to meet new people---people whom i can get along with but also have the same morals/values in common??

please help?

  1. theres nothing wrong with your situation at all, it just means your introverted, and prefer to have friends you can trust and enjoy, sometimes thats hard but it will happen... im exactlye like you, but i make an effort to socialise with people because sometimes i can get so unmotivated that i wont socialise at all with people even my own friends.. once you have that little bit of motivivation it will grow from there.. i know... sometimes you have to force yourself to go out with your friends but once it happens you will enjoy it more than you think, it always happens to me.. try and join a group you might have something in common with, if you like sports join a sports team or community sport outside of college, or if you like cooking go to cooking classes or something like that

you will always meet and make friends with people that break promises but once that happens you will know which people are your real friends, unfortunetly it take a bit of time...

    dont confuse introvertness with shyness

  2. hi steph,

sometimes i like to keep to myself too. people will always misinterpret things you do and don't do (and they're allowed to, b/c we're all human and we all misinterpret each other).

as for the second question, about meeting new people, i guess it depends what your morals/values are? meetup.com is a good way to use the internet to find local people with similar interests and/or beliefs.
