i ride but i think the skiiRS rock ..they look great..the kids r adorable skiing..i like skiing but i perfer snowboarding..

If you enjoy it, it is cool.  Anyone who thinks which one you do makes the slightest difference needs to get out more.

skiing is just as cool if you are doing freestyle tricks. if i were going to get into skiing then id go with twin tips and hit the terrain park. ski tricks can look cooler than snowboarding. but if you are just cruisin then i think that skiing is more for the older generation. =P they are both fun i prefer snowboarding tho.

The difference between skiing and snowboarding is more than just posture, it's a lifestyle.  Think back to the times when skiers scoffed at snowboarders and even refused them entry to their mountains.  Naturally, snowboarders rebelled and created a frenzy in a sport that is on a constant explosion of growth.  

Surfing brings much of the same lifestyle of snowboarding into the water.  Many surfers, such as yourself I'm sure, experience a bit of cynicism in that, people think you're a slacker or you're wasting your time.  In reality, surfing is an opportunity for you to escape become one with your surroundings.

Today, the rivalry between skiing and snowboarding is faint at best, but history does hold water in my eyes.

Of course it isn't wrong! There are a few people here who have mentioned rivalry between the two sports... that's pretty much long gone. Skiing is definitely as cool as snowboarding... I think snowboarding has rubbed off on skiing in the past few years especially. Both are respectable and respected sports with loyal followings.

That being said, don't listen to the people who put down skiing... snowboard sales have been falling pretty sharply in the past couple of years in comparison to ski sales. Both sports are just prone to the same cyclical popularity.

my advise is stick to what you enjoy, if you ski, thats cool. im a snowboarder so i think thats cool.  but i have equal respect for skiers.  they are actually really helpful cause if you have a friend who skis (and ur a boarder) they can pull you on the flats with there poles.  any w'ay like one of the others said, i also golf, which isnt "hardcore" like say football, but i enjoy it (i used to wrestle, i guess thats hardcore). so dont let trends tell you what is cool

You should never get into anything be it skiing or snowboarding just to look cool, none of that stuff really matters. I snowboard and many people think thats cool i also play golf people might think thats an uncool sport, but i dont care about any of that c**p really  you have to do what feels right for you. If you would rather ski than snowboard stick to the skiing, Good luck.

If you mean look as cool then Snowboarding wins by a long shot. (I do both) but if you mean like easily gliding down the hill then still snowboading it just feels more smooth. Still it is easier to do bumps with skis ( I mean the one that starts with an M I just can't spell it Mougles?)

Snowboading is more fun in my oppinion. It is easier to freestyle also.

Skiing is easier to learn and grab hold of though.
