Is it wrong that I don't care what happens to me at my job?

Only been working there for two weeks and it's been nothing but trouble (I work at a restaurant as a hostess). The head hostess thinks that it's OK to yell at me in front of customers (she tells me where to sit people, but I sometimes sit them somewhere else because the customers complain so I just give it to them to please them) and that pisses her off. She hits me really hard sometimes and taunts me about being a priss or something completely stupid. And then one of the managers is this butch d**e who sounds and looks like a man. She's very rude and treats everyone like a child. I don't appreciate how she treats me either.

I see it this way. I don't really need a job. I'm moving to Norway for university next year so it doesn't really matter what I do long-term here atm. I don't need money either. I get $500 from my father. I only work because I find it REWARDING. I love to work because it makes me feel like I'm doing something important.

  1. No I would not care either if I were in your situation.  That is terrible.  Do you want to really stick it out or just quit?  If it gets to bad go to human resources and  complain to the company.  That is what I would do.

  2. Nobody deserves to be abused or mistreated no matter what . Always have respect for yourself and everyone else will . Allow no-one to hit you . Speak up for yourself ..or the next thing you know real trouble could happen .

  3. Tell your boss the truth about your disease and how you are treated. I bet things change. If not, go over his/her head and report abuse in the workplace.

You should care what happens in your job because it is your reputation and will affect future jobs.

  4. Tele the head hostess to p**s off in front of the customers when she yells at you. See if she wants to go higher up and complain. Let her defend herself. Waht have you to lose?

  5. Although you will find those type of people in any workplace, no one deserves to be treated that way.

If I were you, I'd quit. Like you said, you don't need the money, so why stay there and take their cr@p?

    Find a new job.

  6. "She hits me really hard sometimes."    Stop right here.  If you mean that the hostess physically assaults you, you need to contact the police and press charges.

Whether you keep the job or not, your employer, and your co-workers, do not have the right to physically assault you, or anyone else.

I would think that if you take care of this, that will serve as a good example to the manager, and others, about how they need to act.

  7. Ahh that is awful. There is a number you can call for anyone who mistreats you or abuses you on the job... whether it is verbal abuse or they are physically touching you and hurting you! The number should be somewhere in the paper work you got when you first started or they must have it somewhere within your work place! I would suggest that you call the number and see what happens. They should get in trouble for their actions and if they do not then quit and go find a better job where the people you worked with aren't such mean people !

  8. What is G6Pd, and what does it have to do with the way your co-workers are mistreating you? They are wrong, you (from your statement here) are right. And to the girl putting her hands on you, she should be fired.
